Top 10 Albums of 2017
2016 was a great year for music and it brought on excitement for what 2017 would have in store, and this year did not disappoint. However, what was interesting about 2017 is that a large number of well-established popular artists released albums this year, such as Ed Sheeran, Drake, and Taylor Swift, but newcomers and underdogs seemed to have favoured the opinions of critics and captured the attention of listeners. BLM: Critical Review of To Pimp a Butterfly
Yesterday, Tumblr acknowledged that it’s been two years since the Ferguson protests began, which had me start thinking of Black Lives Matter, a movement I stand by closely. Last semester, I wrote a critical review on my favourite album of 2015, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly for my pop culture class in reference to the current social turmoil. Here it is.
